The seminars on Colombia, organised by the Taula Catalana per la Pau i els Drets Humans a Colombia [Catalan Board for Peace and Human Rights in Colombia], and which will be attended by many organisations of the Catalan civil society, are aimed at raising awareness about the situation and the reality under which Colombia has been living now for decades. These seminars are in line with the strategic aim of the 2005-2008 Barcelona City Council International Cooperation Master Plan: To Promote Peace and a Human Rights Culture.
The Taula Catalana per la Pau i els Drets Humans a Colòmbia [Catalan Board for Peace and Human Rights in Colombia] was created in 2002 as a result of an initiative from a diversity of Barcelona's cooperating entities. The aim of this board is to encourage knowledge, solidarity and cooperation with Colombia, which has been living an armed conflict situation for the last 40 years. The entities, coordinated by the Federació Catalana d'ONGs pel Desenvolupament [Catalan Federation of NGOs for Development], invited the different Catalan administrations to join this initiative. The Ajuntament de Barcelona [Barcelona City Council] accepted the invitation and is now participating in the meetings and activities that are being organised. This year we have celebrated the VI Seminars on Colombia, with the title: ?Women and conflict in Colombia?.
