The numerous different proposals undertaken in the neighbourhoods of the city are the clearest example of the capacity of the citizens of Barcelona to make coexistence and interrelation with new arrivals from around the world an everyday fact.

COOKING CULTURE

The Al-Hanan group has worked since 1999 for the creation of new forms of intercultural communication based on diversity.
This year there are two kinds of proposals linking food with cultural interrelations. Cooking Culture will enable you to get to know dishes from different parts of the world and speak to the people who have made them. Moreover, Cooking Culture and... History in Feminine will have the same structure as Cooking Culture but with the addition of understanding the role of women in the different traditions and cultures.
Finally, the Casal Infantil Pati Llimona (children's centre) will take as a base the cuisine of the children's countries of origin to hold the workshop Cooking Culture.

The cookery workshops are an extracurricular option for children from 4 to 14 in Ciutat Vella. This project will promote the different senior citizens and children in the neighbourhood of L’Eixample photographing the markets around them accompanied by professional photographers and cultural invigorators. 2nd YOUTH MEETING OF THE THEATRE OF THE OPPRESSED

The independent theatre company Teatraviesas organises this meeting around theatre of the oppressed projects.
The participants, many of whom are young sons and daughters of immigrants, generate spaces of shared learning where artistic creation is fostered. In the creative work questions emerge on the conflict generated by the clash of and the contrast between the cultures of different origins of each of the participants.

CULTURAL EXCHANGE PROJECT

The Cultural Exchange Project will be based on the exchange between groups through the organisation of open dance workshops held in different neighbourhoods of the Sant Andreu District. The proposal is especially aimed at the adolescent and young population (between 12 and 30) of the neighbourhoods of Navas, Sagrera, Congrés and Franja del Besòs, areas with the highest percentage of new arrivals.

 “De abajo hacia arriba” (Upwards) is the name of a surprising work of art that the Ecuadorian artist Santiago Reyes wants to erect in the plaça de Can Fabra. This is a sculpture that will be made in collaboration with those attending and that will represent the indicators of interculturality in Sant Andreu.

During October, November and December the activity Distant Film Festival will be held within the audiovisual programme of the Centre Garcilaso. This will consist of the screening of different audiovisuals (films, documentaries, etc.) in which the cultures of other countries are represented.
