Geoportal
The Geoportal is a web site whose purpose is to offer users access to a series of resources and services based on geographic information. It allows geospatial data to be discovered, accessed and visualised, using a standard navigator, and enables the integration, interoperability and exchange of information between different institutions, professional groups and service companies, etc.
The Geoportal supplements the cartographic services that are already available on the Barcelona City Council website: the Guia del ciutadà (citizens' guide) and the Plànols Urbanístics (street maps).

This application uses SVG (Scalable Vector Graphics). This allows for better quality graphics and enables localisation tools, vector selection and drawing on the map.
Some maps can be requested in different formats, some of which can be in SVG. The SVG format has been adopted by the Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) and can be viewed natively in modern browsers, although it may be necessary to adjust some browser options:
- For Internet Explorer versions 8 and 9 enable the compatible view mode.
- Google Chrome views SVG format natively.
- Firefox views SVG format natively.
- For other browsers check their specific features.
If you cannot view SVG or any other format correctly, a small icon will appear in the top left corner. It can be modified so that the returned format is a different one; the recommended format is PNG.
