How to avoid theft inside your vehicle
In the garage of your home
Make sure no-one slips into the garage when you open the side door.
Wait for the main door to close, both on entering and leaving, before pulling away. Set the timer to the minimum.
Remember to lock the side door when you leave the garage on foot.
Take the magnetic entry card or remote with you.
Do not leave any valuables in the vehicle (credit cards, documents, cameras, laptop, etc).
Lock the vehicle: make sure the windows are completely closed and switch on the alarm, if installed.
In public car parks
Do not leave objects or parcels within view.
Park, if possible, in a space near the street or within the line of sight of the attendant or the security cameras.
Remember to leave the car locked and close all the windows properly.
Take the ticket with you.
When parking in the street
Do not leave objects inside the vehicle within view from the outside (clothes, bags, wallets, keys, credit cards, phones etc).
On leaving the vehicle make sure the steering wheel is blocked and the windows completely closed.
Activate the anti-theft devices in the vehicle (alarm, disconnects, steering lock, pedal lock, etc).
While you are driving
Make sure the doors are locked and the windows closed, especially when you stop at traffic lights.
Be wary of window washers, peddlers and beggars. Never open the windows or unlock the doors.
