Race Rules

  1. Race Day: Sunday, February 14th, 2010, at 9 AM. Start: Pg de Lluís Companys. Finish Line: Passeig Lluís Companys/Arc de Triomf.
  2. The distance is 21.097 kilometres, as certified by the Royal Spanish Athletic Federation (RFEA).
  3. Participants must be at least 16 years old on race day.
  4. Minors under the age of 18 require the authorization of a parent or guardian in order to participate in the race, and can only register personally at the sites indicated. The organization does not recognize a special category for minors.
  5. The start has been divided into sections in function of the best official Half Marathon time of each participant. Each section will be colour-coded and only those runners with a corresponding colour race number can start from that section.
  6. The start will be staggered with two starting times, one at 9 AM and the second approximately 5 minutes later.
  7. The route is duly set out and marked at each kilometre. Water stations will be placed at kilometres 5, 10 and 15 (approximately).
  8. The maximum time to complete the race is 2 hours and 30 minutes. The sweep vehicle will move at the corresponding speed through kilometres 10 and 15. All athletes unable to finish under the maximum permitted time will not be provided with a classification result.
  9. To participate it is obligatory to run with a timing chip. If you already have a yellow chip, you must indicate its code on the registration form. If you do not have a chip, the organization will provide one to be used for this event only, at a price of 3 Euros (VAT included).
  10. Those registered can obtain a runner’s bag (with your race number and a single-use chip) on the days indicated in the section Hospitality for Runners.
  11. If registered runners do not pick up their race number and runner’s bag within the times stipulated, they cannot be obtained by any other means and participation will be forfeited.
  12. All prizes are indicated in the corresponding section, and will be given on the same day of the race.
  13. The registration fee will not be returned under any circumstance, unless the race is cancelled by the organizing committee and for reasons attributable to it.
  14. Registration will only be valid once full payment has been made.
  15. Registration will close when registered participation reaches 5,000 runners.
  16. The organization reserves the right to alter the route for external factors or for reasons beyond its control. The fulfilment of the designated route is at all times dependent upon possible official road improvements, which could cause inevitable last-minute changes of a minor character on race day. They will not, however, affect the official distance.
  17. Participants explicitly give permission to the organization to publish their first name, surname, sex and date of birth in the official registration list, as well as on the results list, as long as they finish the race according to the established norms.
  18. Registration in this race implies the acceptance of these regulations. All considerations that have not been foreseen will be subject to the opinion and verdict of the race organization, which will apply the relevant IAAF rule.
