Diagonal Mar Park

Diagonal Mar Park is a project by the architect Enric Miralles which was built as part of the Diagonal Mar urban plan for the 2004 Cultures Forum. The park design puts natural resources to good use for its own maintenance and has the latest developments in renewable energy and energy saving equipment.

It is a park of organic shapes which joins sea and mountain. Between the grassy hills and large planted areas bursting with vegetation, you find various lakes, one of which, the great lake, is the park’s main feature, covering an area of over one hectare.

The marshy areas around the lake are another highlight, with a rich and diverse collection of plants which serves as a habitat for various waterfowl species, some of which were introduced by the Barcelona City Council Biodiversity Enhancement Programme.
